Lucky 7 Longhorns

A solid black heifer out of a PPF Gunmaker daughter and our 2009 service sire. Not a speck of white on her and she has the horn genetics that will make her interesting to watch.

We got lucky at Lucky 7 Longhorns. Her half sister on her dam's side has amazing total horn and her two half sisters on her sire's side have body and base for days. This little heifer has chrome and body. She is roaning even in her winter coat, so it will be interesting to see how much color she throws in the spring. Photo at eight months.

Ooops. Not what I expected genetically, but what I hope for in color, pattern and confirmation. Her sire and dam are both by the great PPF Gunmaker. I had them in the same pasture for a month, not really worrying about it as her sire had sustained an injury to his, um, reproductive tract in a previous scuffle with a neighbor's fence jumping bull. He managed to miss all the rest of the cows but cozied up to his half sister. Nida got her name from blending the word niece with the word daughter. Linebreeding Gunmaker could be spectacular though!

The second brindle heifer in a row from Polly Ester- she's a fat little calf and is full of energy and spunk. Already wandering off and giving her mother fits. Will be a fun one to watch.
